PS 132’s Green Team & Student Garden Club strive to:
- Provide a hands-on S.T.E.A.M. based curriculum to all students in an outdoor classroom while improving respiratory, auditory, and mental health to the entire community. Children will learn through a seasonal curriculum in the following subjects: science, technology, engineering, art, math, design, Spanish, nutrition, and more.
- Give every child the opportunity to benefit from nature itself.
- Attract and protect a multitude of pollinators including birds, bees, beetles, moths, and butterflies.
- Clean the air on congested Metropolitan Avenue in our Brooklyn neighborhood with one of the highest asthma rates in the country. The Organizations United for Trash Reduction & Garbage Equity (OUTRAGE) has been a strong advocate for reducing through-traffic waste transfer routes that cause fumes, noise, and dangerous street conditions on Metropolitan Avenue. Learn more about them and how to get involved at Outragenbk.org. Each day, every PS 132 student and the community beyond will receive health and educational benefits from our thriving garden.
