Reading- We will continue reading “Dear Mrs. LaRue” by Mark Teague. We will discuss opinions and point of view. We will also read various articles which will give us facts and information to base an opinion on.

Writing- Students will brainstorm topics for their opinion writing piece. We will continue using facts and information from articles we have read in class to write an opinion about a topic. The students will work collaboratively to discuss their topics and debate their opinions.

Math- We will continue our unit of length customary units. Students will learn to measure using rulers. They will also estimate lengths in inches.

Social Studies-In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about New York City over time. We will compare and contrast NYC’s past and present.

Science- We will continue our unit on “Forces and Motion”.

Reading- Wednesday is “Read Across America” day. Students should wear their pajamas and bring in their favorite books to share. We will have a guest reader and immerse ourselves in the love of books!

Writing- We will wrap-up our biography writing and publish our biographies.

Math- This week we will focus on multiplication tables. We will use multiplication facts to help us solve division problems. Please help your child study their multiplication facts.

Social Studies-In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about New York City over time. We will compare and contrast NYC’s past and present.

Science- We will continue our unit on “Forces and Motion”.

Reading- We will wrap-up our unit on biographies this week. Students will work in groups to immerse themselves in various biographies on a person of their interest.

Writing- We will be editing and revising our drafts. We will also work on publishing our biographies.

Math- We will continue our unit of multiplication and division. This week we will continue to focus on division. We will also work on solving multiplication and division word problems.

Social Studies-In Social Studies, we will learn about New York City over time. We will compare and contrast NYC’s past and present. We will present our winter break research.

Science- We will continue our unit on “Forces and Motion”.

Math- We will continue our unit of multiplication and division. This week we will focus on division. We will also work on solving multiplication and division word problems.

We will distinguish between important information and not such important information. We will also gather information using “Thinking Maps”. We will begin to organize the information into paragraphs.
