Week of 3/7/16
Reading- We will begin reading “Dear Mrs. LaRue” by Mark Teague. We will discuss opinions and point of view. We will also read various articles which will give us facts and information to base an opinion on.
Writing- This month begins our “Opinion Writing” unit. We will write an essay using facts and information from articles we have read in class to write an opinion about a topic. The students will work collaboratively and choose a topic they would like. They will also discuss their topics and debate their opinions.
Math- We will begin our unit of length customary units. Students will learn to measure using rulers. They will also estimate lengths in inches.
Social Studies-In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about New York City over time. We will compare and contrast NYC’s past and present.
Science- We will continue our unit on “Forces and Motion”.
* 3/8 Cookshop for Families
1. Please be sure to check your child’s H.W. folder every night.
2. Please make sure your child has (3) sharpened pencils with their initials written on them with a Sharpie marker on it.
3. Please don’t forget to call the school and send in an absence note when your child is absent from school.
