Good morning parents. I hope you had a great week and got to spend some fun time with your children.

Here’s what you need to know this week:

* Crazy Hat Day (100th day) is Friday. The administration asked that the hats be brought in today just to ensure that we would get them. They don’t actually need to be in today, so don’t worry if your child didn’t come in with it. Send it in when you are ready to. Walking trip slips for Friday will come out any day now, so please send it back when you get it, and, as always, I could use some chaperones. This one will be a quick one!

* I am missing 6 signed promotion in doubt letters. I will give those 6 children another copy of the letter today. Please send it back in. Remember, that this is not at all a notification that your child is being held back. It’s just to let you know that his/her average in reading or math had fallen below the 70% level. In fact, many of the children who were promotion in doubt are no longer failing. I have dropped their lowest scores and the children are showing some improvement lately. Please keep checking on Jupitergrades for updated averages and test scores. The current grades will be a good predictor of their upcoming report card grades. Parent teacher conferences are coming up next week, on March 3. That’s next Thursday. So, that day will be a half day. Appointment slips will be coming home any day now.

* Math – Their latest quiz results were not satisfactory and are not a good way to kick off last marking period. I will return and review the quiz today (on area and perimeter) and will give the children the same quiz tomorrow. I will keep their higher score. Also, starting this week and for the next 8 or so weeks until the state math test, I will give the children a weekly math homework sheet that is mixed review of the skills learned this year. These sheets will be collected and graded every Friday. This will provide good review and scaffolding and will let me, you, and your child know what skills they need more work in. Don’t forget splashmath!

*Read Across America (pajama day) is next Wednesday, March 2. Come see the parade in the school and have your child bring in his/her favorite book from home.

*The second senior dues payment of $50 is due this Friday.

*Lots of the children still need supplies!

Have a wonderful week and I’ll keep you updated if anything new comes up. Homework is enclosed.
