Week of January 25th
Weekly Homework- Due Friday, January 29th
Reading: Read for 15 minutes and record on log.
Writing: Answer this question in your homework notebook twice, using 2 different books:
– After reading your chosen book, practice the retelling strategy. What happened in the beginning of the story? What happened in the middle of the story? What happened at the end of the story? Was there a problem and solution?
– Menu Activity
– Choose 5 words and create a sentence for each word, OR create a story using 5 words ABC order
During the week of January 25th the students will be continuing to practice utilizing the non-fiction text features within a text. We will practice the skills of main idea and retelling.
For writing, the children are finishing the research on their community helper. They are beginning to write their first draft of their non-fiction Community Helpers writing piece.
In math, the children are adding and subtracting to 100. They will add without regrouping, they will use a place-value chart to add ones with regrouping, and they will use a place-value chart to add all numbers with regrouping.
Spelling Week #13:
Doubling Rule: When a word ends with a vowel, then a consonant we double the consonant and add the ending.
