Week of January 18th
Weekly Homework- Due Friday, January 22nd
Reading: Read for 15 minutes and record on log.
Writing: Answer these questions in your homework notebook:
-While reading your chosen book practice the reciprocal reading strategy: summarizing. When we summarize, we take the main ideas/points that are important, and put it in our own words.
Some sentence stems to help us summarize are: “The main points are…”, “This is mostly about…”, “The important facts and details are…”
Math: There will be a test on Friday, January 22nd
Spelling: There is no spelling this week, due to the 4-day week. Phonics: Complete the nouns, verbs, and adjectives activity.
During the week of January 18th the students will be continuing to practice the non-fiction text features within a text. We will practice the skills of understanding the different kinds of print, and main idea.
For writing, the children are beginning to research their community helpers. They will be creating questions and taking notes on the important facts and details about their community helper. We will begin writing our first draft at the end of this week. In math, we are working with numbers to 100.The students will be counting to 100, using place value, and comparing, ordering, and making patterns.
There will be a test on Friday, January 22nd.
-If you have not returned your progress reports or vacation homework packet, please do so. -Picture Re-take Day is Wednesday, January 20th .
-PTA Family Game Night is Friday, January 22nd at 6pm.
