Week of January 11th
Weekly Homework- Due Friday, January 15th
Reading: Read for 15 minutes and record on log.
Writing: Answer these questions in your homework notebook:
-While reading non-fiction texts it is important to understand the different text features within a book. Choose a text feature that is shown within your chosen book, and write about it in your homework notebook. How does this text feature help you understand what you read? (Do this twice)
Spelling: Beginning blends- /cr/, /pr/, /pl/
-Choose 3 words and create 3 sentences
During the week of January 11th the students will be reviewing the non-fiction text features within a text. We will practice the skill of activating our schema before, during, and after reading. Activating our schema is using our prior knowledge and showing what we already know.
For writing, the children are being assigned to a specific community helper. They will be creating questions and beginning to research.
In math, we are working with numbers to 100.The students will be counting to 100, using place value, and comparing, ordering, and making patterns.
For spelling this week the children will practice the beginning blends of /cr/, /pr/, and /pl/.
Spelling Words: cracking, cradle, craft, cranberry, practice, praise, precaution, planet, plankton, playbook
