Week of January 11

Week of January 11, 2016

Reading- We will be reading all about John F. Kennedy as part of our Biography unit. We will be learning about his life and using this information to create thinking maps; such as circle maps and flow maps. We will also be reading our own biography research.

Writing- We will be using our biography research to learn all about our famous person. We will be working on gathering important facts of their lives. We will be creating a tree map to organize these facts into the person’s early life, middle years and later years. ALL research was due by January 8th.

Math- The students will continue to learn how to multiply using skip counting. They will review the 2’s and 5’s facts and begin on the 10’s facts. Please review these facts with your child as well. We will be using these facts in word problems to and focus on how to explain our work.

Social Studies- In Social Studies, we will learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and the impact he has had on us today. We have discussed segregation and how our lives have changed over time.

Science- We will learn about Force and Motion. We will focus on how things move and what makes them move.
