During the week of December 14th the students will continue to practice “Reciprocal Reading” using non-fiction and fiction books. During reciprocal reading students are learning to predict, question, clarify, and summarize. We are implementing these strategies so that when the children return from holiday break they are able to break up into reading groups and utilize Reciprocal Reading roles. We are also beginning to test for new reading levels.

For writing, children are publishing their Animal “All About” writing piece and will peer edit their final product.

In math, we will review addition and subtraction with regrouping. There will be a quiz on Friday, December 18th, just on regrouping.

For spelling this week the children will practice vowels /ea/ and /ee/. “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking.”
